August 13, 2012

Today was an interesting day.  Teachers went back to school today but it was the first real day of my retirement.  I was a little melancholy but I weathered it well.  I had dinner at a friend's house.  They are here in Florida for two weeks but on Wed. leave to go back to New York.  One of my friends had an allergic reaction to shrimp, even though she has eaten it often.  We ended up having to take her to urgent care where they gave her the epi-pen.  Out of the five of us, she is the only one who had a reaction to the shrimp but it was quite frightening how quickly all the symptoms came on.

I stitched for awhile on Lizzie Kate's Scary Sampler.

December 31, 2011 and my New Year's resolution is to try and do a better job of maintaining this blog. Tomorrow, I will be starting Quaker Gone Tropic! I have changed the threads and fabric 3 or 4 times. This is what I have settled on using vintage French lilac 32 count linen by Lakeside Linen. Their fabric is one of my favorites. I particularly like the softness of this linen. The threads are Caron Waterlilies.

In addition, I have 3 WIP's that I will also be working on:
Snowglobe Mantel by Bent Creek
2011 Loose Feathers by Blackbird Designs
Douceur de Vivre by Jardin Prive

Here it is only January 2nd and I have my WIP's for this current time. They are:

1. Paws and Claws by Long Dog Samplers. This is from Gift of Stitching magazine from January, 2009.
2. Sea to Shining Sea by Little HouseNeedleworks.
3. Holiday Kitty Ornament by Val's Stitchin' Stuff.
4. Peppermint Twist by Blue Ribbon Designs.
5. Christmas Village by The Prairie Schooler.
6. Hilltop Seasons by The Sunflower Seed.
7. Seasonal Boxers stitched as one by Lizzie Kate.
8. Christmas Is Forever by Lizzie Kate.

Since there are only seven days in a week and I work five of them, 8 WIP's will be a challenge!

Happy 2009 to everyone! I hope this year is a better one for all. While I did not have many finishes in 2008, my goal is to stitch more this year. Heart of America, shown here, is my final finish for 2008.
